Be Informed! Vote! The election on Tuesday May 4th has many issues and elections that are important to EPIC
Toledo
and
Northwest Ohio
residents. There are two statewide issues (Issues 1 & 2), 6 local issues/levies (Issues 3 – 8), and many primaries. We want to make sure that EPIC
Toledo
members are well informed so that we can use OUR collective voice to steer the future of our region, state, and country. Below is a short description of the items on the May 4th ballot.
State and Local Issues
Issue 1: State Issue - PROPOSED CONSTITUTIONAL AMENDMENT TO EXTEND THE
OHIO
THIRD FRONTIER PROGRAM BY AUTHORIZING THE ISSUANCE OF ADDITIONAL GENERAL OBLIGATION BONDS TO PROMOTE ECONOMIC GROWTH
Issue 2: State Issue - PROPOSED CONSTITUTIONAL AMENDMENT TO CHANGE THE LOCATION OF THE
COLUMBUS
CASINO FACILITY AUTHORIZED BY PREVIOUS STATEWIDE VOTE

CITY
SCHOOL DISTRICT
- PROPOSED SCHOOL DISTRICT INCOME TAX (NEW) – 0.75%
Toledo
Resident Income Tax
Issue 4:
SPRINGFIELD
LOCAL
SCHOOL DISTRICT
- PROPOSED TAX LEVY (ADDITIONAL) - 3.9 mills (39 cents for each $100 of property valuation)
Issue 5: City of
Toledo PROPOSED REALLOCATION
OF ¾ PERCENT TEMPORARY INCOME TAX - Eliminates any revenue being allotted to the Capital Improvement Fund and places it in the General Fund
Issue 6: City of
Oregon Police Tax Renewal
- PROPOSED TAX LEVY (RENEWAL) - 0.5 mills (5 cents for each $100 of property valuation)
Issue 7:
Richfield
Fire Tax Renewal - PROPOSED TAX LEVY (RENEWAL) - 2.50 mills (25 cents for each $100 of property valuation)
Issue 8:
Swanton
Village
Electric Load - PROPOSED ELECTRICAL AGGREGATION – Would allow the
Village
of
Swanton
to sell and buy electricity to businesses and residents in Swanton

Election Primaries
There are many “seats” up for election this fall (Governor, Senate, House Representative, Auditor of State, Secretary of State, and County Commissioner to name a few), and the 5/4/2010 primary will pare down the number of candidates.
