Toledo Museum of Art Hosts Next 2445 Series Event: The Art of Funk

The second of four events in TMA’s new 2445 Series—The Art of Funk—will be a high energy evening of free form creativity. Skip the club scene on March 11 and come instead to the Glass Pavilion from 7–10 p.m. for an evening of spontaneous fun and originality.

An eclectic mix of ten local musicians will present an extended jam session with funky band mashups never heard before. This unique music creation will be captured in live painting by Jerry Gray and Kerry Krow of Quest for Fire Studios, and in live pottery by local artist Dan Michelsen and Julie Webster of Shine Ceramics. Glass Studio Manager and artist Jeff Mack will demonstrate the making of unconventional glassworks. All pieces created during the evening will be available for purchase via silent auction.

Offbeat, original treats will be provided by Chef Erika Rapp. Heidelberg Distributing will provide an unusual, off-the-wall selection of beers, wines and liquors, plus giveaways.

2445 Series events are intended to build relationships by integrating art with eclectic and original programming. Special discounted TMA memberships will be available for purchase at each event.

Stay tuned for details on The Art of Seduction (September 2) and The Art of Indulgence (November 11).

Tickets ($25 members/$30 nonmembers) are limited for each event and can be pre-purchased by calling (419) 254-5771, ext. 7432, or at the door while quantities last. Tickets include a sampling of delicious drinks, ample provisions, and a fun-filled evening.

The 2445 Series is sponsored by Heidelberg Distributing and the Toledo City Paper. The Art of Funk is presented by Guitar Center ( Toledo ).

The Mix Twenty10 - March 20, 2010 - Secor Bldg. - 7p.m.- 1 a.m.

The Mix Twenty10 will have a focus on the future—from the 1970’s perspective, that is. We are taking over the Secor Building once again, but this year we are thinking about white leather boots, neon pinks and greens, and lots of silver for sparkle.

With a look back to the fashions and trends of the 70’s, we will transform the Secor Building in downtown Toledo into the party space of the future. Scheduled for March 20, the event will once again feature delectable grazing stations, a silent auction featuring the art work of the area’s best artists, and top shelf entertainment, all adding up to a terrific evening of diversion for our enthusiastic community of arts supporters.

Tickets for the event are $75 each and are available by calling (419) 254-2787. Get your tickets early, as quantities are limited!

We will also have a Preview and artist reception on Friday, February 19th, 6:00pm-8:00pm. The Preview is open to the public.

Secondhand Sports

Secondhand Sports is brought to you by a local Findlay teenager, who was looking for a way to cut the cost on Softball & Baseball equipment.

The idea behind this is to collect used equipment, clean it and then distribute it in the spring to ANY players that needs equipment, and there will be no charge.

Everybody has equipment, which children have out grown or just don't use anymore. So this is your chance to put that equipment to good use, and help out your local athlete's all at the same time!

These will be the last drop of dates before we distribute the equipment. So lets get all that equipment gathered up and dropped off !

March 16 at 6:30 - 8:30 p.m. at the  F.O.P. Lodge, 604 Fishlock St.

If you have questions or would like us to pick up your equipment, please contact us at 567- 429-9844 or email secondhandsportz@yahoo.com
